THE HOLDEN ROOM
Imagine an event space infused with light – and history. Conveniently located to downtown Minneapolis and just off I-394, the Holden Room is a 5,000-square-foot warehouse venue that can transform to suit any need, from weddings and corporate events to makers’ markets and creative gatherings. Come visit us – and explore the possibilities.
A commitment to craft, creativity, and design infuses everything we do – including our renovation of the historic Holden Room. Walk inside, and you’ll find the original polished concrete floors, exposed steel beams, overhead industrial track, and a massive glass garage door used for railroad shipments in the building’s former life.
The wide-open space can be made to feel expansive or intimate – and is complete with modern amenities, including comfortable bathrooms and access to a commercial kitchen. Flooded with natural light, this modern-industrial space is also a great background for professional photography shoots. We can comfortably accommodate up to 250 people for seated events, with a maximum capacity of 450 standing.
Reserve our cafe for your next small gathering. We have regular operating hours, but are open to shifting them from time to time to meet your event needs. Parallel works best for groups of 100 or less.
Our building at 145 Holden Street was constructed in 1955, a transformational time for the city of Minneapolis. Suburban expansion was drawing industry away from the central city – but the Ford McNutt Company decided to chart its own path, hiring the same architectural firm that completed the city’s iconic Foshay Tower in 1929 to design a new glass warehouse and mirror manufacturing plant.
McNutt later sold the building to Brin Northwestern Glass, which operated it as a glass manufacturing facility until 2016, when Hennepin Made purchased it and began renovations. Today, the 30,000-square foot complex houses the blown-glass lighting company’s expanded operations, as well as a range of creative initiatives, including Parallel cafe, collaborative office and experimental retail space, and, of course, the Holden Room.
